Heart attack on a plate?

The definition of a sandwich seems slowly changing.  Normally,  people would define it as some meat and cheese or peanut butter and jelly between two pieces of bread.

On April 12, 2010, KFC introduced a new “sandwich” and called it the Double Down.
The Double Down consists of two pieces of grilled or fried chicken used as bread on a normal sandwich would be used with bacon, cheese, and a special sauce between them.

It seems as if this sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen.

I went in to try the sandwich for myself and tried to go the healthiest route I could with this meal.  I ordered the grilled chicken instead of the fried.

The grilled chicken would have been delicious if it were by itself.  However, that was not the case.  There was a glob of “special” sauce on the sandwich that tasted like spicy mayo and a single piece of unidentifiable, chewy cheese.

Don’t try and it this “sandwich” on the go; it is very messy.

In my opinion, it wasn’t worth the money or hype.  Others tend to disagree however, and only time will tell if the sandwich will be the start to a new trend in fast food.
